Meet Kelly!

Kelly is a Doctor of Physical Therapy, a Master Resiliency Trainer (MRT), Master Fitness Trainer (MFT), Tactical Strength and Conditioning Facilitator (TSAC-F), and a Life and Leadership Coach. She is also a Reservist and Combat Veteran.

Kelly made this site to help tactical athletes locate resources so they can educate themselves to make informed decisions on holistic health.

Kelly has worked with Special Operations and Army units as a Physical Therapist, MRT, MFT, TSAC-F, a Logistician, and as a Coach.

Take a Mini Mental Vacation

Use Your 5 Senses Relaxation Technique

  • Get comfortable either seated in a chair or lying down. Think of a time you were most relaxed, a favorite memory, or think of where you would like to be right now.
    • If you could go or time travel anywhere, where would that be?
    • Let’s use this for your vacation destination.
  • As you close your eyes for a few minutes, use your five sense to create your vacation destination.
    • Think about what it looks like.
    • What can you feel?
    • What sounds are there?
    • What smells are there?
    • Are there particular tastes?
  • Take in a big, slow breath through your nose. Feel your chest expand and your belly rises. Hold it, and slowly exhale.
  • Spend 2-5 minutes in your vacation destination as your continue to relax.
  • Wiggle your fingers and toes to come back to where you are now, slowly open your eyes.
  • Reflect: how do you feel after completing this exercise? What do you want to take away from this experience? When might this be good to use again?

  • Tips:
    • If this is one of your first few times, don’t be concerned if it was challenging. With practice you will be able to recall faster or create your mini vacation destination faster.
